Frequently Asked Questions

  • When can I move in?

If there is a storage space available that meets your specific storage needs, you can move in anytime after executing your lease online and after providing your first month’s payment. You will receive a welcome email with location specific move in instructions.

  • How much notice do I need to give when I move out?

We require a 10-day written notice before you move out. Our staff will go over that process at the time of signing.

  • What type of documentation do I need to provide in order to rent a space?

All you need is a government issued form of ID (example: driver’s license, state ID, or passport).

  • Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

No, we rent on a month to month basis unless the customer requests otherwise. However, we offer discounts for customers who sign a lease for a year or longer.

  • Do I need insurance for items in storage?

Our storage facilities require tenants to maintain insurance coverage for their stored belongings. This coverage may be available through your homeowner’s or renter’s policy, or you can purchase a low-cost LockBox Storage protection plan through the facility.

  • Can I access my storage unit anytime?

Many of our storage facility locations offer extended access hours from 5am to 10pm. Access hours may vary by property, so please check your specific location page on our website for more details.

  • How do I make a payment?

You can either pay in person, through the mail or on our website. We accept checks, money orders, Debit card, and all major credit cards. (Surcharge fees will be applied when using credit cards) You may also sign up to have the payment automatically deducted from your credit card/savings/checking account monthly.

  • What forms of payments do you accept?

Checks, cash, money orders, VISA or MasterCard.

  • Do you sell moving and packing supplies?

Many storage facilities offer boxes, tape, mattress covers, locks, and other packing supplies to make your move easier. Contact the office to see what supplies are available.

  • How do I know how much storage space I will need?

You can either use the Size Guide on our website for assistance. Typically, a 5x5 unit works well for boxes and small furniture, while a 10x10 can hold the contents of a one-bedroom apartment. A 10x20 unit typically fits the contents of a multi-bedroom home or small business inventory.

  • Can I stop by to view the facility and storage spaces, or do I need an appointment?

Stop by anytime during normal office hours. Specific office hours are listed on the location page of our website. All offices are closed on Sundays.

  • What type of lock should I use on my storage unit?

A high-quality disc lock or cylinder lock is recommended because they are more resistant to tampering than traditional locks. Our locations offer these types of locks for purchase.

  • What items are not allowed in a storage unit?

For safety and legal reasons, items such as hazardous materials, flammable liquids, explosives, perishable food, illegal goods, and live animals cannot be stored. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, please contact our office before moving in.

  • Are there handcarts/dollies available at the facility?

Yes. You are welcome to use the complimentary carts to move in.

  • How much does a storage unit cost?

Storage unit prices vary based on unit size, location, and availability. Smaller units are typically the most affordable, however larger units are more cost effective on a per square foot basis. Climate-controlled spaces can be more costly because they offer temperature and humidity controls. Contact our office or check our online rentals for current pricing and specials.

  • Do I need climate-controlled storage?

Climate-controlled storage is recommended for items sensitive to extreme temperatures or humidity such as electronics, antiques, documents, artwork, washing machines and wood furniture. Standard storage units work well for most household and business items.

  • How secure are your storage facilities?

The majority of our locations feature security measures such as bright lighting, gated access, surveillance cameras, and full-time on-site management to help protect your belongings. Please see the specific location features list for more details. Tenants are also encouraged to use a high-quality lock for additional security.

  • How do I rent a storage unit?

You can rent a unit online, over the phone, or by visiting our office. The process typically takes only a few minutes and requires a valid ID and initial payment.

  • What size storage unit fits a car or boat?

A 10x20 or larger unit typically accommodates most vehicles. Boats, trailers, and RVs may require larger units or outdoor storage spaces depending on their size.

  • Can businesses use storage units?

Yes. Many businesses use storage units for inventory, tools, equipment, files, and contractor materials. Storage units provide a flexible and cost-effective alternative to leasing additional commercial space.

  • How do I prepare my items for storage?

To protect your belongings, we recommend using sturdy boxes, labeling items clearly, covering furniture, and leaving a small walkway inside the unit for easy access.

  • Can I upgrade or change my storage unit later?

Yes. If your storage needs change, our facilities allow you to transfer to a larger or smaller unit based on availability.
